Unfiltered truth. Clinical expertise. Conversations that matter.

Let’s skip the fluff and have the real conversations.

If you’re looking for a guest who’s willing to go there—into the messy, honest, often-avoided parts of healing—you’ve come to the right place. I’m Dr. Izette Aragon, though most people online know me as The Misfit Therapist. I bring a no-fluff, no-filter approach to therapy, and that carries over into every interview, podcast, and conversation I’m part of.

With a doctorate in social work, an MBA, and almost 20 years of clinical experience, I work with high-achievers, deep-feelers, and people who are done pretending they're fine. My specialty? Helping people break lifelong patterns, process what feels impossible to face, and finally feel like they’re moving forward—not just coping.

What I Talk About:

I don’t show up to repeat what every other therapist is already saying. I show up to say what needs to be said.

Some of my favorite topics to dig into:

  • The “All or Nothing” Trap
Why we stay stuck chasing perfection, and how to start moving again—even if it’s messy.

  • Inner Critic vs. Inner Self
Learning the difference between what’s hurting you and what’s trying to help.

  • Healing Out Loud
What therapy really looks like (hint: it’s not always zen and breathing exercises).

  • Old Wounds, New Patterns
How the past keeps showing up—and what to do with it when it does.

A Few Fast Facts:

  • Based in the U.S.

  • Licensed in California, Texas, and Colorado

  • DSW, MBA, LCSW, LPCC

  • Trained in EMDR, CBT, DBT, and Gottman Method

  • Available for remote or in-person interviews
